Have Your Say: Council's 2024-25 Budget and Annual Business Plan

Published 21st February 2024
In a commitment to open, accountable, and responsive decision making, Council is excited to launch four new engagement activities ahead of the development of its Draft Annual Business Plan and budget.

Available to view and interact with on Shaping Loxton Waikerie, Council’s online community engagement platform, community members will be able to provide their feedback in a range of activities. The page features background information, a timeline of the process, as well as four separate feedback tools:

  1. Community Survey – A short survey to help Council better understand its community, their satisfaction with the Council, their key interests and engagement preferences.
  2. Investment Preferences – An activity designed to better inform the community about different areas that Council invests resources in, and gain community input about where they would like to see greater investment in the upcoming year.
  3. Project Budgeting – A participatory budgeting tool displaying the top ten projects recently suggested for inclusion within the upcoming Draft Corporate Plan, allowing the community to read information about each project and vote for their preferences.
  4. Pitch Your Project – A space for community members to submit their ideas for new Council projects and vote in support of other submissions.

To encourage community participation, Council is giving away four $100 local Chamber of Commerce vouchers.

Development of the plan commenced in January 2024 with internal budget preparation, and will incorporate continued internal meetings, Elected Member budget workshops and community engagement activities, enabling us to outline our goals, strategies, and priorities for the upcoming financial year in line with the community’s wants and needs.

Our engagement activities have been made in acknowledgement that the community has a right to be involved in, informed of, and provide their feedback on decisions that affect them. Results from this engagement will be vital for fostering informed decision making as the upcoming financial year is mapped out by Elected Members and staff.”
